Daniel Patrick Nicholas Samonas (born March 7, 1990) is a Canadian-American actor from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He portrayed Spencer and Freddie's fencing rival, Doug Toter, in the episode, iFence. He is better known for playing Alex Russo's season two boyfriend Dean Moriarti on the Disney Channel sitcom Wizards of Waverly Place.
Born in Toronto, Ontario, Daniel moved down to Florida with his parents at the age of 11, when he was spotted by an agent in a shopping mall, who offered him a job as a model for print advertisements. His early career consisted of print ads, local theater, and T.V commercials until appearing in a flashback scene of the 2004 short film "Ephraim," a movie about a blind man with special powers seeking out his birth parents. Since then he has had parts in such TV shows as Entourage, Hannah Montana, CSI: New York, Without a Trace, Zoey 101, and was the voice of Teo in Avatar: The Last Airbender. He also played "Meat" in the 2007 Nickelodeon made-for-television movie The Last Day of Summer.
