Heyy Candy, idk if you still remember me but anywayyyy...
So I totally did not stalk your convo with Alica about gymnastics as well as your convo with toon here after I decided to come here to leave you a message and now I'm like omgomggggg someone else was so totally into the olympics and not just me x]
They were resting Komova for the all-around, so they didn't use her on floor, and she had just almost fallen on her beam dismount prior to the Russians competing on floor. But frankly, I did not know Komova was capable of a floor routine like that. It was wonderful. I'm rarely disappointed when I watch Russia on floor.
I think Jordyn was screwed by the FIG. Before 2002, each country was allowed to send three gymnasts to the all-around. I miss those days, because back then a single country had the chance to sweep the all-around podium. On the other hand, I was ecstatic that Aly outperformed her, because she has always been in Jordyn and Gabby's shadows.
I was so proud of my babies for winning team finals. The first time since the Magnificent 7 in 1996. I was too young to remember that so this is my Magnificent 7. McKayla Maroney's stuck vault was freaking incredible. I've been watching it over and over since it went up online.
As for the all-around, I wanted either Gabby or Aliya Mustafina from Russia to win. I knew Gabby had it in her. She competed as an alternate to the American Cup and outscored everyone, even Jordyn. I wanted her to slay so badly. The tie breaker between Aliya and Aly for bronze was crap, though. Another American screwed by the FIG. Thank God they're getting rid of the tie breakers next quad.
With the team final and the all-around going so unbelievably well, it still hasn't quite sunk in for me that the USA won. It kind of happened so quickly.
I really hate NBC coverage though. When Jordyn got knocked out of the all-around, the cameras were right there to catch her crying. They've been talking about it non-stop, as if she's the only member of the team. But Jordyn's an American, so of course if she cries, everyone is sympathetic towards her. But if the Russian girls cry, they're "divas" and they're showing bad sportsmanship.
Oh, and get this:
Russians Viktoria Komova and Aliya Mustafina, who won silver and bronze respectively in the women’s gymnastics all-around competition Thursday evening, were in good spirits as they answered questions from reporters during post-meet press conference at the 02 Arena.
The two Russians were complimentary of American Gabrielle Douglas, who won the gold medal by 0.259 over Komova, the reigning World all-around silver medalist. “She performed beautifully today,” 17-year-old Komova said through a translator. “And I believe that she earned her gold medal. She was very, very good tonight.”
Echoed Mustafina: “I absolutely agree with Viktoria. She was fantastic. She didn’t make a single mistake. She became the leading athlete from the very beginning.”
I agree. They shouldn't have closed in on her crying so much.
I don't know much about the Russians but they seemed really distressed during the competitions. Aliya always seemed to be crying even before it was all over. I personally thought Komova was amazing, though. Especially at the very end on the floor. Then again, I just now started getting into gymnastics and the Olympics in general, so I probably have an untrained eye. xP
Russians are known for being proud and patriotic. Back at the Olympics in Sydney, the Russians were so upset at winning the team silver that two of their gymnasts took of their medals as soon as they got off the podium.
Komova's floor was wonderful. I've seen people say she was robbed, but I disagree. If she hadn't had a mistake on vault, then I'd think she was robbed.
Perfection in gymnastics today is impossible. Look at McKayla Maroney's vault in team finals. She made a few judges drop their jaws and she didn't get a ten in execution for it. There hasn't been a perfect ten at the Olympics in twenty years.
The series originally only consisted out of 3 books. That means the third book actually has an ending that could satisfy you and resolves most things. Later, Cassandra Clare decided to continue the story with three more books (two of them were released so far). So, most people have only read the "original 3 books" (which is a shame IMO b/c the continuation is amazing.)
You neeeed to read City Of Glass. It's actually the best one out of the whole series IMO. :D
& @Alica I wanna read it. The ending of City of Ashes made me sad lol. But I'm reading a book called Across The Universe now. You know, on the cover of City of Glass, the guy reminds me of Caleb from PLL :P
OH it is?? I thought it was Simon or something... lol
Across The Universe is about this girl, Amy, who is "cryogenically frozen" (I dunno what that means) & put on this spaceship for 300 years. After the 300 years, she & her parents will wake up on a new planet called Centuari-Earth. Buuut, about 50 years before the planned landing, someone wakes her up unexpectedly. It seems that someone tried to murder her, & the same thing is happening to other frozen passengers. She & this other guy Elder, who is the future leader odf the ship, race to find out the secrets of the ship, what lies underneath, yada yada yada. It's actually pretty good :)
Tha happened to me far too often during my first read-through of TMI. It was school time but I could never sleep, I just had to read. I fell off the bed laughing once, an my mum came in in shock. I had to tell her I had a funny nightmare.
Simon, Jace and Magnus are probably the funniest characters.
did you guys notice how since the movie has been announced tumblr is like far more active on the tmi tag ;o i mean there were a lot of reblogs before but now they are so many like its already a pretty popular movie ALTHOUGH THE MOVIE ISNT OUT YET :D
orly I wouldn't know I don't have a tumblr ;-; I crey now. & omg yes it will be so popular & everything & I will make someone take me to the midnight premiere with one of my best friends who also loves it & everything is perf tmi is just perf
I will ;-; I had told Ace I'd make one like, a month ago but I didn't loool. But I fear I'll get addicted therefore distracting me from the buttload of homework awaiting me ;_; I'll make one soon, if I can :P
Perks was really good :D & now I wanna go see the movie when it comes out. Drought is well, idk it's hard to explain. Basically these people called the Congregants are enslaved by this guy, Darwin West for hundreds of years, being forced to harvest Water (Water is always capitalized fsr) & this girl Ruby, has special blood because her dad was some god person & her blood can heal & then she falls in love with one of the guards who works for Darwin & it was kinda confusing & I didn't like it as much as I thought I would.
@laisy hmhmhmmmm. well if its something like 13 reasons why.. that one was pretty interesting. flowers in the attic on the other hand.... although im not exactly hateful with incestious and angsty thematics (mortal instruments anyone) that book made me... shudder. o_e
yes i had to mention FITA because that and 13rw where the only non-fantasy books ive read this year apart from books for school
ok Alica so Perks is basically what Daisy said, but there's this kid, Charlie, who's in high school, & he's like this loner kid who doesn't have a lot of friends but then he finds some that let him in (omg that sounds wrong o.e) & the whole story is written in letter to someone, but we don't know who this person is, every letter just starts with "dear friend". But I would reccomend it, it's interesting.
I WANNA READ FLOWERS IN THE ATTIC ACTUALLY IT SOUNDED INTERESTING. I WAS GONNA GET IT ONCE BUT THEN I HAD TO LEAVE THE LIBRARY ;_; I read an iCarly fanfic which was based on that book & it made me wanna read it. But there was only one chapter idk.
