You and I

“Is it too late for you to love me?”

Once the words leave his mouth he bites down hard on his tongue, instantly regretting it. He wasn’t even exactly sure what had even compelled him to say that to Carly, it just slipped out and now he was waiting for a response.

Of course on the inside he was freaking out. He thought that after months of trying to forget about how much he loved her, feelings wouldn’t be brought up by either of them.

Obviously that hadn’t worked.

“Um, w-what did you say?” She asked as the strolled to a stop in the hallway. She was looking right in his eyes, which made Freddie feel almost intimidated. His wracked his brain for an answer that would suffice, and also ease him out of the awkward situation.

“Nothing.” He held his breath, just waiting for Carly to forget it and keep walking to class.

Thankfully for him, she shrugged her shoulders and kept walking.

Freddie sighed as he followed her. He was safe…for now, at least.

As she got dressed and ready for bed that night, Carly couldn’t stop thinking about him.

We all know what “him”.

Specifically, her mind refused to allow her to erase Freddie’s words (that she knew she heard) he had spoken in the hallway.

“Is it too late for you to love me?”

Everytime she thought about those words, her heart raced a little faster and her palms sweat a little bit.

But why? She thought as she climbed in her bed and snuggled herself between the sheets. Did she still love Freddie? Were the feelings she swore to forget resurfacing?

Maybe she did love Freddie. Maybe the feelings never went away, no matter how hard she tried to make them. She had to admit; during he and Sam’s little “relationship” she had been insanely jealous, despite her pretty little smiles and seemingly content faces, and even the advice she had given them. Of course then she had to make it seem that she liked “Seddie”, or else how she truly felt would come out and she wanted anything but that at the time. Overall she hated the fact that her best friend was dating the boy she had liked for years.

It wasn’t fair, to be honest.

Carly stared up at the ceiling, hands behind her head as she realized something: she did love Freddie. It wasn’t just because he saved her life.

She had always loved him, and wasn’t planning on stopping.

And he loved her back.

Maybe now, they had a chance.

My first Creddie fic! Hope you enjoyed!
