In case you haven't heard, Wikia's look will be changing over the next few weeks. Here are some of the changes.

  • The sidebar will be replaced with a dropdown menu at the top. There will be four dropdowns with seven links each.
  • The article space will be narrower with advertisements on the right, so infoboxes need to be be adjusted.
  • Text will be smaller.
  • Each user will have special tools to bookmark preferences, such as categories they frequently visit.
  • We will have to be much stricter on categories, since we will have less links for the dropdowns than we do for the sidebar.

Wikia says these changes are necessary because Monaco (current skin) is too complex of a code and too expensive to maintain.

The timeline for these changes:

Now: Logged in users see no difference. You do have the option to view the new skin by going to "Preferences", clicking "Skin", and selecting "New Wikia Look".

October 20: Everyone sees the changes, whether logged in or not.

November 3: The option to use Monaco will be removed.

These changes are mandatory on all wikis, and we will have to adapt to them. If you have any questions, feel free to leave a message with Mak23686 or SeddieBerserker.
