Why does Freddie love Sam?
Well, what I think is, that Freddie always had a feeling that Sam never actually hated him. And in iKiss when Sam apologized to Freddie, I think it's safe to say that it was sincere. Sam truly felt bad for what she did to him. And Freddie knew that.
They have been through *so* much together. Think about it. They shared their first kiss together, have grown up together, but most of all, they kept running away from their feelings. They were afraid to stop playing "the game".
And when Sam kissed Freddie, he was full of mixed emotions. After three days he was probably considering all this, and thinking about Sam. And when it led up to the day in the mental hospital, with the iCarly video chat, he knew what to do.
His choice, was... clear.
